Date of Project:
September 2025
Type of Client:
Residential homeowner (new-build property)
Project Location:
Inverness, Scottish Highlands

Following the impact of Storm Floris, a homeowner in a new-build residential area of Inverness contacted The Highland Arborist with concerns over a large, mature Lime tree in their garden. Several limbs had already snapped off during the storm, narrowly missing their property. With the tree growing aggressively towards their boundary, the risk of future storm damage was significant.
The tree’s position meant it had expanded outward, leaning over the client’s garden as it sought light, away from competing trees behind it. This resulted in an unbalanced canopy and heavy overhang, posing a serious safety concern.
The client got in touch with our professional arborist to provide a long-term solution that prioritised safety while preserving the tree’s health.

As a BS3998-compliant tree care provider, our team began with a full site inspection and canopy assessment. Given the Lime tree’s imbalance, environmental setting, and recent storm trauma, we recommended a targeted reduction of all limbs overhanging the client’s boundary.
Key services delivered:
The pruning was executed using safe rope access techniques, with barriers and PPE in place throughout. The work was carried out to British Standards for Tree Work (BS3998), ensuring the structure of the tree remained stable and the surrounding ecosystem undisturbed.
