Date of Project:
December 2025
Type of Client:
Residential homeowner
Project Location:
Foyers, South Loch Ness, Scottish Highlands

We were contacted by a private homeowner in Foyers, a village on the south side of Loch Ness, to carry out specialist work on a towering Western red cedar. The tree stood adjacent to the client’s garden boundary, alongside a similarly sized Sequoia, dominating the skyline and raising concerns about long-term safety.
The client had two main goals:
From the ground, it was clear this was no ordinary job. The cedar was an exceptional specimen, with multiple dominant leaders at the top forming unions - potential weak points where limbs could shear in strong winds.
After conducting a site inspection and ensuring there was no nesting wildlife or protected species present, we developed a tailored plan to safely reduce the tree’s size without harming its health.
Services Delivered:
Due to the tree’s scale, the climb was complex. Tight working space and a narrow landing zone meant precision rigging was essential to bring each section down safely and cleanly. From the top of the tree, climbers had panoramic views over Loch Ness and the Highland landscape - a reminder of both the beauty and challenge of arborist work in the region.

✔ Reduced risk of failure from included unions
✔ Enhanced safety and daylight access in the client’s garden
✔ Improved tree structure and long-term vitality
✔ No wildlife disturbed, and all work BS3998-compliant
✔ Full client satisfaction: project completed on time and without complications
